After the last disaster of a train hitting a taxi a person wonders how on earth this could occur!

There is no question that the local Municipal Police are not performing their duties by doing regular checks on these mini buses to ensure that they are in total roadworthy condition.

In the past these taxis were required to undergo roadworthy tests on a regular basis. I am beginning to doubt if this is the case as many accidents would not occur! If not mistaken taxis had to be checked every six months if carrying passengers.

The drivers mostly appear to be young thus inexperienced. It is apparent that the reason for overloading is due to the fact that the taxi owner is not aware of additional passengers over the limit thus the taxi drivers are pocketing the additional funds.

It all boils down to the fact that taxis are not being checked by the police on a regular basis resulting in a lot more accidents.

Last but not least I have yet to see a taxi stop point whereby taxis can stop to pick up passengers. At the moment we have organised chaos whereby taxis stop at will to pick up passengers.

A taxi stop at regular points would result in a organised flow of taxi’s without this shocking hooting to attract potential passengers!
