We at Crawford College North Coast appreciate the critical observations made by Patrick Ludonga regarding the poor condition of the road verge on either side of the Watson Highway in the vicinity of our school.

We took some of our maintenance staff outside the school gate to both clean and clear the verge space alongside our boundaries approaching the school and robots.

In fact, we upgraded the eastern circle at the intersection of the Watson Highway and the M4 by removing the weeds and planting it with indigenous vegetation.

We appeal to motorists for the safety of athletes and pedestrians who travel along this section of road. Many residents of the Drive-In shack settlement walk along this section of the road and place their personal safety at risk as they are forced to step into the road to move beyond the overhanging branches. The cars in turn need to move further onto the white line increasing the dangers of a head-on collision.

We will keep our section of road in a better condition. We also appeal to our local sugar-farming community to take the initiative of keeping their road-verge in a good clean and clear condition.
