Upon sitting down to formulate a response to the letter ‘The customer is always right’ (Courier, October 16), I initially intended to plough through its entire contents while tearing apart each and every statement. Alas, I came to my senses, as it would’ve been a waste of my time and would most probably fall upon deaf ears (or in this case blind eyes).
However I shall leave with this: If sitting on a beer crate in a township while dining on goat meat sounds like a great idea then feel free to ‘fill your boots’ as they say in the military and do as you wish.
Please refrain from the modern-day pastime of choosing to be ‘offended’ at something or other. Being offended, like all manner of subjective emotions remains but a choice; a choice that most people appear to revel in.
Please bear in mind that these professional restaurateurs were (I’m certain) approached by the media and therefore asked to put forward their ‘side of the story’ and thus validate and/or justify their supposedly higher prices as well as all the legitimate reasons as to why.
Bottom line: If you wish to eat prime rib but can only afford tinned tuna, do not be offended by the beef.
