I read your article about the Pygmy Kingfisher in the Kruger National Park with interest, but you don’t have to go all the way up there to see them, since these pretty little birds are happily breeding right on your door step!
I am living at the Tugela River Mouth / Estuary and have had the pleasure to watch them coming down from the north to dig their nests into banks here and start the breeding.
Besides these little beauties I have recorded the Malachite, the Brownhooded, the Pied and the Giant Kingfisher as well.

PS: According to Newman’s Birds these little guys actually fly right down to the Cape for their breeding!
