5 Types of people you want to surround yourself with

Appreciate yourself enough to know who you want to be around, what you want to be and who you deserve to become

Remember those all too familiar parental warnings of, “be careful of the company you keep, because you will become them.”?

How about, “birds of a feather flock together”? The most familiar response from most adolescents was to dismiss these as an over protective parent’s incorrect judgement of people who were different from them.

Yet, what’s transpired is a world of sameness, where people are blending more and more into one another.

The dissatisfied are drawn to the discontented.

The blamers are drawn to the complainers.

The game changers are drawn to… people who are focused on making a difference and being significant. Those old quips, suddenly, seem less irrelevant.

The inspired, the passionate, the motivated, the grateful and the open minded become more appealing prospects.

The inspired have a way of influencing and compelling others to be great and to follow, without doubt or hesitation, a calling of the heart. These dreamers have an uncanny ability to make their dreams their reality, because to fail is not an option.

The passionate become the intensity of their beliefs and they express this with every fiber of their being. Even during unenthusiastic topics their passion for life is palpable. R.D. Lang sums this up, “if you have passion for what you do, the company you keep, the life you live, it will be reflected in whatever you create. Passion is like that; it springs out, jumps, unpredictable and unplanned, into everything we touch. If it doesn’t, others know. Passion cannot be faked and it cannot be manufactured, which is why it is so priceless.”

The motivated keep moving forward and keep pushing through. The tenacity they embody comes from an inner strength. Motivation is not always something that comes naturally, but identifying your motivator, even through the guidance of a professional, will keep you driven and your goals achievable.

The grateful see beauty in the tiny crevices of life. Every door that opens is their opportunity. Gratitude amplifies appreciation of the self and the life you choose to lead. Expressing thanks becomes a natural way of being and others respond to that, attracting more opportunities and more growth.

The open minded demonstrate an unbiased, unprejudiced account of humanity. This allows them to become detached from outside dramas, which others allow themselves to be distracted by. The open minded grow in wisdom by looking inwardly and harnessing their true self. What they do for themselves they render naturally for others, compelling them to be their best version too.

Surrounding yourself with the inspired, the passionate, the motivated, the grateful and the open minded will undoubtedly collide with who you are; but more significantly than that, is that the company you keep is a reflection of how you feel about yourself.

Appreciate yourself enough to know who you want to be around, what you want to be and who you deserve to become.
