Jo Moodley of Tongaat Child Welfare writes: The Tongaat Child and Family Welfare Society took the opportunity to reach out mainly to the senior citizens of the Tongaat community throughout the month of August.
The following senior citizen clubs were recipients of the empowerment talks that were presented by the social workers of the Society: Hambanathi Senior Citizens Club, Sandfields Senior Citizens Club, Flamingo Heights Senior Citizens Club, Buffelsdale Senior Citizens Club and the Watsonia Women’s Circle.
Hambanathi Clinic also welcomed the Social Worker’s talks that were directed to the female patients of all ages.
The talks encompassed various topics besides women’s empowerment such as their rights, responsibilities, moral degeneration and on reporting abuse (all forms).
The messages were intended for women to realise self appreciation, to support each other and to be a voice for fellow women in need regardless of colour or creed.
A gracious thank you to the Tongaat community for the phenomenal support that was received for the Women’s month initiatives.
