Public representatives of all political parties play a critical role in conducting oversights, ensuring police stations and personnel are fulfilling their mandate to serve and protect.
The recent circular issued by SAPS KZN Acting Commissioner, Lt-General Mkhwanazi to policing cluster commanders, in which he stated that political parties, “irrespective which party it is”, visiting police stations to inquire about police business should not be given the information, is alarming to say the least.
The DA Ilembe Constituency will continue playing our oversight role to ensure that all citizens have access to an effective policing system.
