Letter: Good service

Congratulations and thank you Tongaat Home Affairs staff.

Pene Leckie of Ballito commends the staff at the Tongaat Home Affairs Office: I needed to renew my passport and get the smart ID, and was dreading going due to all the stories of the long lines.

I went on a day when it was pouring with rain, thinking there would be few people.

However, when I arrived, their office was jam packed, all having to be inside because of the weather. Tongaat has a small staff and not large premises, so it looked pretty chaotic.

However, the staff were patient, polite and efficient and I was out within three quarters of an hour.

The SMS they send when you can collect your new documents, is also an excellent idea.

I went on Friday and despite having almost nonexistent finger prints, was out within half an hour.

So, congratulations and thank you Tongaat Home Affairs staff.
