Denis Aspden of Salt Rock on Chapter 2 of his driver’s licence renewal:
So, following my previous letter regarding the absolute lack of information regarding my licence renewal I head to Stanger to try and get some kind of resolution (Six months waiting, January 11).
After the usual wait in the queue at collections the guy behind the counter searches for about 15 minutes and then tells me, “It must be in the post”.
Now I start to lose my cool and demand to see the chief of traffic police. With some reluctance they point me to a door and tell me to find Krish.
I find Krish and Raj to be excellent gentleman and they start a computer search and print out the result which indicates – “No image received” and “fingerprints unknown”.
Why on earth could this information not be transmitted to me?
I realise it is not going to help to rant at them as they were genuinely trying to help. Bottom line is get back in the queue and redo the application and get a new temporary licence. Now the finger print scanner again fails and I tell the officer I was at the bank the previous day and their scanner read my thumb prints without problem.
He replies it is their equipment which is faulty! He keeps trying and eventually it reads my prints.
After this process the lady at the counter tells me to come back and collect on February 3 (a Sunday no less).
Watch this space after February 3.
