Cliff Hatt of Zinkwazi Neighbourhood Watch writes:
On behalf of the Zinkwazi community I would like to sincerely thank the dedicated professional work of private investigator Brad Nathanson, the SAP (in particular Col. du Plessis of the Serious and Violent Crimes Unit in Vryheid), Z2 Security and all other security members for their roles in successfully arresting and convicting two armed serial criminals who have plagued the North Coast over many years.
Two brothers from Mozambique, Aaron and Jabulani Feijao, each received life sentences (amongst others) for violent robbery and a DNA-linked rape case. Four of the many violent crimes took place a couple of years ago and affected both Zinkwazi residents and friends in surrounding areas.
These two criminals were linked to many other incidents but there was sufficient evidence to convict them successfully on the major incidents alone.
Most convictions succeed as a result of fingerprinting records and the will of investigating officers who spend hours linking cases for greater chance of successful conviction.
We thus appeal to all those persons who are the victims of burglaries, both successful and unsuccessful, to insist on fingerprinting being done when dealing with the police.
You will find the fingerprinting team both professional and willing but always busy so please give them a day or two.
