Letter: Why debate about the mosque?

Zahir Danbar of Salt Rock writes:

I was so shocked and surprised but most of all hurt, saddened and disappointed that I read ‘Mosque sparks a debate in Ballito’. How and why should any place of worship cause a debate?

Would the objectors with English sort of Christian names been so vocal if a church was getting built? Christianity is a religion with a history of oppression, apartheid and most sinful of all, slavery.

I think there’s far more important and concrete things to do than worry or bother or even object about a place of any worship being built.

For over 10 years KwaDukuza municipality was and is in chaos with street lights that don’t work or work 24 hours and roads that are worse than Zimbabwe with pot holes all over, with trees that need to be trimmed etc, electricity that goes off for hours at the slightest thunder and lightning and stage 4 load shedding and you all want to object and be vocal about a place of worship?

Is it because it’s not Christian enough for you all?

To my Hindu brothers and sisters come join us, feel free to also build a temple here, as and while your Gods bless you with wealth, donate and build a temple exactly like how we have all religions in Phoenix, praying side by side of each other.

To the objectors of the mosque, get out of your fantasy world and be vocal in getting KDM run with efficiency.

Allow all places of worship as we now more than ever before need God more, especially in our South Africa.
