Letter: Hello from Hermanus

I have moved to Fynbos old age home in Hermanus. Home of happiness to about 300 of us. It's a paradise!

Cas Steyn writes from Hermanus:

A short thank you to Umhlali Prep. I spent most of my happy years in Ballito and some in Randburg and Malelane game farm.

I saw this beautiful school grow to become a top-of-the-range school in South Africa, with about 1 000 pupils.

Many headmasters had a hand in this. Mrs Russell had both hands in! I want to thank her and the school management for naming the new rugby field after me. It is a great privilege! Well done Mrs Russell for the new swimming pool.

Jimmy Russell has not been forgotten. He was a great cricketer and a friendly man.

I have moved to Fynbos old age home in Hermanus. Home of happiness to about 300 of us. It’s a paradise!

My daughter Sonja Garland and her husband Bruce are at hand to help. Granddaughter Meak was dux here and travelled abroad for one year. She is now at Stellenbosch, busy with her B.Sc. Ethan works for MTN, a big man with a beard!

I miss all my friends in Ballito. I am befriending to very grey-headed old timers here and feel very much at home. Hermanus is a very beautiful town.

Best wishes and love to all. I miss your newspaper, Bruce. Good luck.
