Letter: Mythos closes doors

Ballito Lifestyle Centre's co-owner Bruce Rencken writes:

Ballito Lifestyle Centre’s co-owner Bruce Rencken writes:

Unfortunately MYTHOS has not opened for trade since 25 June. This is obviously something Lifestyle Centre would have liked to avoid, however we were unaware that they were going to close their doors. There has been a fair amount of speculation subsequent to this and I thought it important to provide the Ballito community with some background.

The directors and shareholders of MYTHOS Ballito, George Kurta and Charles Boas, made the decision to place their company, trading as MYTHOS Ballito, under voluntary business rescue in early March 2019. Since being placed under business rescue, we as landlords have interacted with both the directors / shareholders and the business rescue practitioner. Unfortunately, a fair and reasonable solution has not yet been found.

The directors / shareholders of MYTHOS Ballito and / or the business rescue practitioner have subsequently applied to the court for voluntary liquidation. They further made the decision to cease trading on Tuesday, 25 June; centre management were not advised of this decision.

We remain committed to engaging with the directors / shareholders and / or the business rescue practitioners to find a fair and reasonable solution that enables MYTHOS to continue trading at Lifestyle Centre.
