One thing is very clear to me, the majority of our principals are amazing and deserve respect and support, not just from parents and the community but especially from the Education department. I wish the public knew how principals and educators were treated. These are the people who shape and prepare our children for the future, yet the lack of support, proper training, proper facilities and resources demonstrate what is truly important in KZN.
I keep hearing the statistics about Matric rate this and that.
We should be asking what skills do our children have? Can they think for themselves? Do they have the ability to start a business? If there are no jobs, why do we not have more schools that are skill oriented-electronics, plumbing, specific skill development.
My education background is from America, I taught in what was considered underprivileged schools. You would never see 60, 70, 80, 90 children in one room with one teacher, that is unacceptable. We don’t have teaching colleges as we did years ago.
We need the public to get involved, speak up, show we do care about the future of our children.
