Six Fiamma Grill kitchen staff at Coco Der Mer Boutique Hotel were rushed to hospital after an explosion in the restaurant’s kitchen on Sunday afternoon.
Fortunately the kitchen suffered no serious damage and six staff members were treated for direct and indirect minor to medium gas burn injuries, five staff were discharged the same day from local hospitals.
Two from Alberlito and three from Victoria Hospital and one staff member is still in hospital staying for observations and for the best professional advice on injuries sustained.
Both hospitals did fantastic jobs and we thank them for a great deal for keeping us up to date and the manner in which the assisted our team.

We would also like to thank 2 who responded immediately and calmed the situation in a highly professional manner.
The kitchen was functional later in the afternoon after we had our gas technician Chris Owen from Atom Gas check and give us the OK on the system.
We have had a further assessment on the system for reassurance on Monday and it is in a fully functional condition.
All in all we have received a phenomenal response from the community and we thank everyone for their kind concern, consideration and well wishes to our family of staff.
