Letter: Elemental hazards mean extra vigilance

However, KZN being hit by multiple tornadoes within a month has us on DEFCON style alerts.

DA Cllr Vernon Pillay of KwaDukuza writes:

Tis the season to be jolly, relaxed, smiling without anxiety cutting in and with family from, for example, Johannesburg. We have become the new down under in KwaDukuza due to the familial influx.

Tuned in to East Coast Radio Traffic and a rolodex of WhatsApp groups during road trips is the norm.

However, KZN being hit by multiple tornadoes within a month has us on DEFCON style alerts.

We are on edge; municipalities try to be as prepared. Motorists, in all seriousness, need their passenger to be like the rally-type navigation guy with multiple devices i.e. a smartphone with WAZE GPS, another with SA Weather alerts with power banks (20 000 mAH) or higher as back-up.

God bless all our citizens with safe passage wherever and whenever during their commute and holiday during this 2019 festive season.
