The hugest thank you to the surfer who was surfing at Salt Rock main beach on Sunday, January 26 around midday who spotted my children struggling out at sea.
My kids aged eight and 10 were swimming between the beacons and got caught in a rip that pulled them out to sea.
I lost sight of them within a couple of minutes and was standing on the shore scouring the sea for them.
A local surfer spotted them and signalled to the lifeguard for help.
The lifeguard came to my kids’ rescue on a board but was struggling with two children so the surfer again came to help, putting my eight-year-old daughter on his surf board and returned her safely to the shore.
I cannot begin to imagine what would have happened had this kind and alert surfer not signalled for help and come to my children’s rescue.
A very heartfelt thank you for your kindness and bravery!
