Letter: Making Ballito safer

Riann Verster of the Ballito Coordinated Security Initiative (BCSI) writes:

This is an update on the progress made with BCSI to make Ballito a safer place by honing security resources and supporting those security firms committed to Ballito and its residents.

The submissions received from a number of interested security companies were carefully considered against the weighted criteria as agreed by the BCSI Committee (after sharing these with Ballito residents, Ballito Neighbourhood Watch (BNW) and Dolphin Coast Ratepayers and Residents’ Association (DOCRRA) and the scoring of the other firms participating in the selection process.

The contending firms have been narrowed down to the following four security companies: Blue Security, IPSS, Marshall Security and National Security.

The final stage of the process entails face-to-face presentations on the capacities, current footprint in Ballito, technology usage, proposed additional assistance / interventions to be contributed by the relevant firms, as well as a few aspects to be finalised in due course.

The presentations will be held as public meetings and will be open to all Ballito residents to attend.

Questions may be raised by the committee and Ballito residents present. Representatives of DOCRRA and BNW will also be invited to attend.

The intention is to select two, maximum three preferred security providers to take the initiative forward.

As always, the BCSI Committee welcomes any input you may have on the unfolding process or suggestion in respect of it.

We will publish the date(s) for the face to face presentations to be made by the participating firms and ask that you attend and raise any queries you have directly with the BCSI Committee and the firms.
