I really would like to share a tragic story with North Coast residents.
On Saturday, February 8 we were at the Vlakspruit Cemetery, on the Glendale side of Shakaskraal.
While I was there, I came across a friendly dog that lives there.
I approached two security guards who watch the cemetery to enquire about this dog.
They said the dog came a long time ago when she was a puppy, with people who were coming to bury someone.
As she was young, she didn’t know the way back home and so stayed in the cemetery.
She grew up knowing that this place was her home.
This cemetery is situated in the middle of sugarcane farms and there are no villages close by.
It is like a semi-desert. I then asked them how the dog gets food in this place?
Busane Vundla (the first security guard I spoke with) said that they feed her with their leftovers.
She really lives a miserable life.
So, I would like to invite local business owners or any individual who could have the generosity to donate some dog food for this friendly creature.
The security guards, Busane Vundla and Thembinkosi Msane, said that they would be glad to feed the dog if people donated food.
The dog needs a blanket, water basin as well as a food basin.
A kennel would be a bonus.
