The executive council of the Friends of the Sick Association (FOSA) must be complimented on their swift decision to put on hold all their activities from March 12.
The nine soup kitchens and the free pressure and blood sugar tests were stopped until further notice.
On March 26, over 200 hampers were packed and distributed to pension cottages in Plein Street and the low-cost homes in Belvedere by the afternoon.
Each hamper contained 2l oil, 1kg each of maize meal, sugar and rice, 100 tea bags, 1l long life milk and two pieces of Savlon soap.
A hand sanitiser was also given.
