Letter: Consider incentives

"Can Siza Water justify these high increases in the current situation where all residents and businesses are under tremendous pressure?" - William Hart.

William Hart of Ballito writes:

The new basic water charge will increase from R168.00 to R184.63, an increase of R16.63 whilst the usage per kilolitre will also increase by 9.9% – the higher the usage the more you pay.

The basic sewer charge will increase from R407.15 to R423.43 an increase of R16.28, and residential sewer charge for water will increase from R14.45 to R15.03 per kl, an increase of R0.58 (all inclusive of VAT.)

Can Siza Water justify these high increases in the current situation where all residents and businesses are under tremendous pressure?

Would Siza Water be prepared to consider a 7.5% increase in water cost, nil increase in sewer and do a feasibility study into whether an “incentive rebate” linked directly to a consumer reducing their monthly water consumption could be introduced in the future?
