Letter: Joy and appreciation

"I would just like to pay tribute to a team of dedicated nursing sisters, staff and security of the Department of Health who give so selflessly of their time" - Ann Proksch.

Ann Proksch of Sheffield writes:

During this time of great negativity regarding vaccinations, I would just like to pay tribute to a team of dedicated nursing sisters, staff and security of the Department of Health who give so selflessly of their time.

One such team was at Brettenwood Coastal Estate to vaccinate residents over 60 with severe disabilities, therefore unable to get themselves to a vaccine station.

The look of joy and appreciation of these residents was a delight and a truly uplifting experience.

This team worked tirelessly, including a public holiday, to ensure at least some sort of immunity.

The procedure is complex and required an enormous amount of planning, execution, and co-ordination between themselves and the Brettenwood Homeowners office, which they undertook with only a smile on their faces and appreciation from the residents.

The exercise was conducted in an amazing efficient, secure, and safe way, and I truly think they deserve some recognition.

They have worked tirelessly since March 2020, some without days off and some having lost loved ones and co-workers.

Instead of complaining about a long queue, or to be told that the site has run out – be grateful that we at least have an opportunity to be vaccinated and have some peace of mind.

A big shout out and thanks to the people that assisted from the Department of Health and Brettenwood Homeowners Association.
