Letter: Sport offers youth hope

"Let's also show some generosity and charity in getting the Ballito Dolphins rugby club a place to call home and raising funds that they can have top class facilities for the youth to train" - Walter Schotter.

Walter Schotter of Ballito writes:

I am humbled by what our community has achieved over the past few weeks and the generosity shown with the efforts of various individuals who have rallied and organised to assist local businesses.

It was unreal to see how quickly R600 000 was raised to assist some 40 odd spaza shops with re-stocking.

So why can the same not be done to provide a future for the youth of our region?

Let’s also show some generosity and charity in getting the Ballito Dolphins rugby club a place to call home and raising funds that they can have top class facilities for the youth to train.

Let’s have something that our region can be extremely proud of.

Rugby could be the start – we can expand into many other sports.

Let’s look to eventually having a multi-functional sporting facility for the youth of the area.

This is something that will give so many a chance at a better future.

Sport is an avenue of hope. Contact the club at chairman@ballitodolphinsrugby.co.za.
