Anyone who has submitted meter readings to Eskom and then received a bill based upon Eskom’s estimate of their usage will know that the estimate is always hugely inflated.
It is for this reason that for many years I have submitted my meter reading every month either by SMS or telephonically.
I received an SMS from Eskom a few days ago advising me that the SMS function has been discontinued so I tried the telephone option, only to be advised that this option for submitting meter readings is no longer available.
My question is: Are we being used as a cash cow to fund Eskom’s cash flow?
