Letter: Moviemakers head for KwaDukuza

"This can spark a move to invest in an industry that meets the needs of people looking for jobs and viewers in need of continual entertainment as streaming content is said to explode with Disney plus, Amazon Prime, Peacock and more making their way to our screens" - Cllr Vernon Pillay.

Cllr Vernon Pillay of KwaDukuza writes:

After learning that M-Net and Fremantle’s co-production of “Reyka” fame was also shot here in KwaDukuza municipality (KDM), involving an award-winning writer, a cast of famous women including Kim Engelbrecht (CW’s Flash), Thando Thabethe and Leeanda Reddy, this raises hopes that we can be a prime destination for future television and movie (even Netflix) projects.

This can spark a move to invest in an industry that meets the needs of people looking for jobs and viewers in need of continual entertainment as streaming content is said to explode with Disney plus, Amazon Prime, Peacock and more making their way to our screens.

The need extends to independent filmmakers as well.

Ultimately the job creation will also satisfy manifesting diverse jobs in the local arts sector.

That’s a wrap…
