Letter: The election is on!

"Both planned registration weekends were cancelled, so if you have moved to the area and still need to register, you can still register online while we wait to hear if and when there will be a voter registration weekend." - Cllr Tammy Colley.

Ward 5 Cllr Tammy Colley writes:

We are living in uncertain times, so it was fantastic that the Constitutional Court dismissed the application by the IEC to move the elections from October 27, 2021 to 2022.

South Africans have a Constitutional right to elect their local governments within the mandated timeframes.

Both planned registration weekends were cancelled, so if you have moved to the area and still need to register, you can still register online while we wait to hear if and when there will be a voter registration weekend.

The process to apply for a special vote is now also underway and will close on September 23.

A special vote is available for those who will be away on the day of voting, or those who are disabled and are unable to get to the voting station.

If you require assistance with either the online registration or a special vote, a local ward councillor will be available to assist you at both the Ballito and Salt Rock Library every afternoon this week from 12-3pm.
