I decided I need a new TV. The one I fancied was through an online portal, but when I tried to order, it said I had to give them my TV licence number or ID. Obviously I couldn’t do that as I don’t have a TV licence.
The SABC website states that I can renew my licence at many retail outlets, but I don’t have a licence.
It said licences are issued by the post office. So I went into the Ballito post office, only to be told that their system is no longer linked to the SABC system.
The polite gentleman behind the counter suggested I go to Game at the Junction.
This I duly did and was told by a salesman that he could assist me if I bought one of their TVs.
I told him I just wanted a licence and he said it was pointless purchasing one from them as you get no licence number and I would never hear back from the SABC.
A clear marketing ploy of trying to force me to purchase a TV from him.
On returning home I tried phoning the SABC, but no answer.
I have emailed them and have had no response.
The end result is I’m unable to purchase a TV from the online company.
I wonder if any of your readers have had similar issues?
