#Letter: We need a social club

"This appeal is particularly aimed at semi-retired and retired professional and business residents of the Dolphin Coast who would be interested meeting like-minded individuals, chatting about times past and having a light lunch together, listening to an interesting speaker and keeping the old grey matter ticking over" - Ken Lever.

Ken Lever of Ballito writes:

I am hoping to revive the Probus Club of Ballito and am requesting responses of interest through your paper.

Although we have all been shut-in, locked down and bored stiff for 18 months – which seems very much longer – I believe we all need to come out of hibernation, get out and about, and renew friendships.

This appeal is particularly aimed at semi-retired and retired professional and business residents of the Dolphin Coast who would be interested meeting like-minded individuals, chatting about times past and having a light lunch together, listening to an interesting speaker and keeping the old grey matter ticking over.

Probus does not get involved in fundraising or excessive do-gooding and is not a service club.

All that is behind you and me – Probus is about you and your time, and enjoying yourself of course. However, if you are a member of a service club and wish to continue, there is nothing to stop you joining a Probus club as well.

Probus is non-political and non-racial….and certainly not gender based.

Probus clubs usually meet, or organise outings, on a monthly or fortnightly basis dependent on the members’ preferences and aims to keep costs to a minimum.

Probus clubs recruit their members from those who have been in the business world or in the professions.

If you are interested and would like to learn more about Probus – including being involved in the revival of the Ballito Probus Club (that has been dormant now for 6 or 7 years) please give me a call at 082 657 0094 or email me at Archilever@gmail.com.
