#Letter: Remember our history

If all old statues are removed, how are we going to teach our children where we came from?

Everton Mfitshi of Shayamoya writes:

I condemn the call by the Economic Freedom Fighters for the removal of Paul Kruger’s statue from Pretoria’s Church Square.

If all old statues are removed, how are we going to teach our children where we came from?

How are we going tell our kids about Apartheid and the new South Africa? These statues represent our great history.

People around the globe are willing to come here to explore our history. Holding a grudge won’t benefit us.

There are many other important things the EFF can make a noise about: the millions of illegal immigrants and high crime rate.

Changing street names won’t help us but fixing our economy will.
