Sheila Naidoo of Tongaat writes:
I received a call from someone called Lucy – whose name was only given when I asked for it.
She said she was phoning from the card division of a bank.
She wanted details of our debit card to cancel it because she claimed there was a R4 000 transaction.
When I asked for details of her telephone number, she put the phone down.
The number registered on our telephone was 268 2416 5864.
We checked at our local bank a few minutes later.
We were told that these scam calls occurred regularly.
