#Letter: Boardwalk workmanship disappointing

This is supposed to be a new, modern promenade for Ballito, instead we get work which is badly finished and ugly. This is not what Ballito deserves.

I am one of the (un)fortunate people who walk daily on our promenade. I feel cheated every time I walk on the newly refurbished wooden portion which was finished at the end of last year.

I can’t keep wondering if somebody from KDM has ever seen the work or walked there.

I can see uneven boards (in height and length), awful joints with uneven endings, nails sticking out and cracked, untreated poles.

I have witnessed many people stumble and fall.

We should take an example from Umhlanga, with a new mosaic and fresco on the promenade.

I wonder if the work which is being undertaken at the time of writing will be of the same sub-standard quality?

I was wondering if this matter is serious enough for you to investigate how these tenders were awarded or perhaps how other people in Ballito feel about the way their taxpayer money is being spent.

Ed – The municipality had not responded at the time of publication.
