The Tongaat based Calypso Sporting FC under 17s recently took on Young Chiefs FC in their final league match of the season at the Shaik Mohideen stadium.

Calypso went into the match unbeaten and had already secured the 2013 Tongaat Football Association under 17 league championship by a large margin. Chiefs were determined to break the winning streak of the champions and fielded a full strength team. The match was played at high intensity with Calypso under pressure early as their defence got a thorough inspection in the first quarter. As the game went on the league champions started to find their rhythm and played the exciting brand of football they displayed all season under their coach Walter Mkhwanazi. Calypso never looked like losing from this point on and some sniping runs and accurate striking left them comprehensive 3-0 winners at the final whistle, to further underline their dominance in the league.
Head coach, PK Naidoo (Bunker) expressed his satisfaction with the team’s consistency throughout the competition and said he was excited about the younger players coming through to make the club a force to be reckoned with in the future.
