Ballito is well on its way to becoming KZN’s cycling hub.
This Saturday sees the launch of The Sugar Rush Adventure Centre and the relaunch of one of KZN’s favourite cycling races.
Previously known as the KZN Expedition, the race that took place in the Valley of 1000 Hills has now relocated to the Sugar Rush Adventure Centre outside Ballito.
The Ballito Expedition is the opening event to showcase the centre, their new trails and the launch of the Sugar Rush memberships.
The Ballito Expedition comprises a 25km trail with 400m of climbing, spectacular views and no less than four single track forest sections. It also includes the brand new 50km trail that is a single loop with over 900m of climbing and some very challenging sections, specifically built for this event by Russell and Tyrone White from the Sugar Rush team. Entry fees for the Ballito Expedition are R 170 for the 50km trail and R 130 for the 25km trail. Be there at 8am sharp.
Positioned alongside the new floriculture centre, the Sugar Rush Adventure Centre previously held the I-Cycle race, where they hosted over 400 riders in June on their initial trails.
Sugar Rush are also currently building a new 15km ladies trail and a kiddies trail, which will also be complete in the next few weeks.
The centre is situated in secure and newly landscaped surrounds near Collisheen with grassed areas and a small dam, 10ha of space, ablution facilities, a large coffee shop, an activity zone for children, the Sugar Rats academy, the Russell White Academy, as well as a range of MTB and running trails.
