Howling wind and choppy seas made for a tough competition at the North Coast Boardriders Summer Contest at Salmon Bay on Saturday, November 30.
Surfing was moved from Surfers Beach after wind conditions made surfing almost impossible.
However the contest went on as competitors battled it out for the top spot as well as R10,000 worth of prizes sponsored by Billabong.
Braiden Coates claimed the spoils in the U17 category with Calvin Goor taking second. Goor then won the U20 category with Justin Ellis coming in second and Coates in third.
In the open category Mark Rayson pulled off some neat tricks in the seriously challenging surf to claim first place. Kyle Yoko came in second and Justin Ellis finished in third place.
The event organiser, Jaco Kapp, thanked the sponsors Billabong, Coastals Tool Hire and Rockstar Energy drinks.
