Brett kicks up Berg dust
Local rider Brett Swanepoel took home some silverware at the first leg of the 2014 Liquorland SA National Enduro Championships.
Local enduro rider Brett Swanepoel, competing for team ccGalleryKTM Gateway/JOAT, finished in third place in the E1 class at the first leg of the 2014 Liquorland SA National Enduro Championships over the weekend. He was beaten by Wade Young and Travis Teasdale who both ride for Brother KTM.
The race was held at Four Rivers Rafting in the central Drakensberg and was a good challenge for all the riders. The contest was divided into four special stages consisting of a MX, extreme enduro, Forest and a long special with some serious drop-offs.
Brett finished seventh overall with a mere 64 seconds separating him from third place and one second from the sixth placed Louwens Mahony.
The next two rounds will take place in Cape Town in March.
The top ten overall positions were: 1st Wade Young, 2nd Altus de Wet, 3rd Travis Teasdale, 4th Scott Bouverie, 5th Kenny Gilbert, 6th Louwrens Mahony, 7th Brett Swanepoel, 8th Blake Gutzeit, 9th Brandon Warick-Oliver and 10th Dwayne Kleinhans.
