Brazilians flying high at the Pro

Brazilian surfers are leading the pack at the Mr Price Pro after some impressive aerial manoeuvres today.

Brazil’s Krystian Kymerson’s outrageous pair of full-rotation backside airs earned him a spot in the round of 16 at the Mr Price Pro today.

His score of 17.73 was the highest of the day, which began with the last four heats of round two before the no-loser round of 24 got underway.

Surfing only started at 9.30am after high tide delayed the start but competitors pulled out all the stops and took to the air, with a number of surfers performing some outrageous aerial maneuvers.

Hawaii’s Torrey Meister clocked in a huge 9.50 air and a 8.17 air and also continues to the round of 16.

The standout performer at the Pro, Filipe Toledo, who recorded the first 10 point wave score of the competition on Tuesday, also went through to the round of 16.

Australians Davey Cathels and Jack Freestone were the next surfers to advance into the round of 16 today.

Surfers who came in second and third in the no-loser round of 24 will compete in the knock-out round of 24 tomorrow, once the remaining no-loser round of 24 heats are completed.

The Mr Price Pro Ballito will continue tomorrow morning once the first call is made at 7.30am.
