Ballito nippers pass lifesaving awards

Boys and girls brave the cold weather for their test.

Eleven Ballito Lifesaving Club nippers completed and passed their Lifesaving SA Nipper awards in Durban on Sunday, November 2.

It was a cold and windy day and for eight nippers it was their first ever lifesaving award. Even though they were well prepared for their exams, they were still very nervous.

Their hard work and dedication paid off with everyone making their run-swim-run times in the sea and answering the theory questions on the beach with confidence.

The nippers will now be able to take part in Nipper carnivals and competitions, working towards KZN Nipper champs taking place next year.

“Our top performance at the previous carnival came from Nicholas Compton-James who came first in the U 9 Boys Beach Flags,” said Sarah Baillie from Ballito Lifesaving Club.
