Soccer achievers recognised

Brazilian Soccer Schools host their award ceremony.

The growing success of the Brazilian Soccer Schools (BSS) in KZN was underlined recently at their 2014 awards ceremony held at Ashton College on November 28.

Over the last two years the initiative has grown to incorporate more than 450 players, producing 15 Durban district players, three Supersport United Junior Academy players and six KZN schools representatives.

BSS KZN now operates schools in Ballito, Westville, Umhlanga and Durban North.

Local player Daniella Dayani (14) walked away with the female player of the year trophy after being selected to captain the KZN U14 team, while Mnqobi Gumede (10) was recognised as the male player of the year for captaining the DCFA Districts and BSS KZN teams.

David Xenopoulos (11), Mnqobi Gumede (10) and Kayden Robinson (10) were all selected to represent the Supersport United Junior Academy after trials in Gauteng in December.

They will play for Supersport United Junior Academy in 2015, which includes tournaments in Europe and throughout South Africa.

Other noteworthy achievements were the BSS U12 team’s SAFA DCFA Cup victory as well as the U11 team which finished joint leaders in their league, winning the FDS tournament by defeating the Supersport United Junior Academy team.

BSS is offering a December holiday course. If you are keen to participate in this world class coaching program and intend to play at the highest level, join the holiday program at Ashton College, Ballito from December 15-18.
