Bright future for hockey Impis

The club hosted their first mini hockey festival for the season at Crawford North Coast and it was one to be proud of.

Umhlali Impis Hockey Club has undergone a face-lift this year, with many positive changes taking place.

On Sunday, May 27 the club hosted their first mini hockey festival for the season at Crawford North Coast and it was one to be proud of.

“We certainly showcased some of the best of what the North Coast has to offer. The tournament had a festival-like atmosphere with several local vendors such as Scoop, Tornado Twisters and Sno-Cone adding to the festive spirit,” said the Impi’s Rob Pissarra.

“Testimony to how quickly the club has grown this year is the fact that we entered the second highest number of teams into the tournament.”

The Impis thanked Crawford North Coast for acting as the home base of Umhlali Impis Hockey Club, saying it showed their commitment to supporting community initiatives.

“On this note, we would also like to thank Umhlali Preparatory School for lending us equipment, Ballito McCarthy Toyota for their sponsorship towards our club shirts, and Tiffany’s Spar for their sponsorship towards the food that we sold.

“Umhlali Impis Hockey Club is a non-profit organization which aims to be as inclusive to as many community members as we can, so we are extremely grateful for the financial support from our sponsors and for all the volunteer work put in by parents.”

The funds raised by the club from selling food on the day were used to cover the costs of hosting the tournament.

The Impis look forward to growing from strength to strength as the year progresses. For more information or if you or your children are interested in joining the club, email impishockey@gmail.com.
