Ballito’s Heidi Dalton gears up for SA champs
The 23-year-old professional cyclist previously received the SA Champs title in 2017.
Ballito cycling star Heidi Dalton is gearing up for a stellar year on the bike as she prepares to take on some of the country’s best cyclists at the 2019 SA Road National Championships in February.
The 23-year-old professional cyclist received the SA Champs title in 2017 and is determined to work her way to the top and reclaim her title at this year’s race in Pretoria.

Growing up in Richards Bay, Dalton has 12 years of cycling experience behind her, and has been racing professionally for the last seven years.

Coming from a cycling driven family, who also own Zululand Cycles in Ballito, Dalton has been backed by her family since day one and has managed to take part in numerous major cycling events both nationally and internationally, including SA Champs, World Champs, African Champs, African Games and the Commonwealth Games, to name but a few.
She is currently part of the Demacon women’s team which won every race that they took part in in the country last year.
“Being part of team Demacon we have won all the Classics in South Africa this year which are big races, and we currently also have the South African Champ in our team,” said Dalton.

With an impressive track record and a strong team, Dalton is now hard at work training for SA Champs, which involves cycling laps around the Union Buildings in Pretoria.
She has spent many hours on the road alongside local cyclists Gary Doyle and Brian Osborne, as she trains long and hard with the Ballito Road Group.
“Training in Ballito has been some of the best preparation leading into the 2019 cycling season.
“After a tough 2018 I am feeling positive about what’s to come.
“A special thanks to Demacon, Head Bikes and IPSS Security for the continued support.”
