Swinging success for animals at Furever Pet Rescue golf day

The Ballito-based non profit company raised R28 600.

Umhlali Country Club was alive with animal lovers taking to the greens to help raise funds at the Furever Pet Rescue golf day last week.

The Ballito-based non profit company raised R28 600 which will go towards their regular Sterilise, Assist, Vaccinate, Educate (SAVE) clinics in local townships.

Karel Cilliers, Gordan Dalton, Lisa Mellon and Brad Foster.

Furever Pet Rescue’s Cheryl Herda said they were thrilled with the funds raised as they can now continue with the much-needed clinics.

“Since we started in 2015, we have given food parcels and blankets as well as vaccinated and given flea/tick and mange treatment to 1583 township animals,” said Herda.

They have also secured eight free spays for their next clinic on March 10 through Aloe Vet’s barking contest winners.

“We have sterilised 358 animals which has made a big difference as one dog can have 14 litters which equals about 70 puppies over her lifetime. Multiply that by a conservative 50 female dogs in a township and that is 2100 unwanted pups.”
