Driving education forward with golf for Isinembe Secondary School
The school is fundraising for a new school hall.
To complete the construction of an R2 million multipurpose hall, Isinembe Secondary School hosted their first fundraising golf day at Maidstone Country Club in Tongaat last Sunday.
The event attracted 48 golfers from the North Coast, Durban and Johannesburg, organised by retired teacher, Shakila Ramlakhan.
“The school is celebrating 90 years and the hall is one of their greatest needs. There have been other events held to raise funds and so far we have raised almost half of the needed money,” said Ramlakhan.

She had been a teacher at the school for 34 years and found it important to work with the teachers to try and uplift the standard of the school.
“Thank you to everyone who came out to support us.”
The Upper Tongaat school turned 90 in August last year and it is a mainstream school serving 586 pupils from a poor community.
Isinembe Secondary School was also awarded best mainstream school in Ilembe district (from 422 schools) by the Education MEC for Inclusive Education in 2013.
