Ballito Dolphins vs South Coast Warriors: discipline mars the game

This last Saturday the Catalyst Ballito Dolphins welcomed the South Coast Warriors, a team that have previously plied their trade in the premier division of KZN Rugby and also play host to the Sharks South Coast Academy.

The second team game displayed the worst side of rugby with ill-discipline on both sides resulting in the referee calling off the game after 15 minutes.

“Rugby is collision sport with a higher degree of physicality than most sports but it is this that presents real men the challenge of displaying this but still within the bounds of good sportsmanship.

“It is for this very reason that rugby and its gentlemen are much admired. Club rugby is viewed around the world by friends and families and each player has responsibility to be an ambassador for the game,” said vice chairman Mark Svenningsen.

The Dolphin’s new look backline were threatening and played some really attractive rugby, scoring three great tries with the mercurial Andrew Livingston scoring a brace. Old hand Victor Campher chipping in with one of his own just to show that age is nothing but a number. The performance of the 9/10 duo had the coaches licking their lips in anticipation for next season. The final score ran out at 48-19 in favour of the well-nourished gents from down south but the home display leaving more than just an air of optimism.
