Young sportsmen and women produced outstanding performances at the African National Congress Youth League sports day held at Velani Sports field in Etete recently.
Youth from Shakaskraal, Nkobongo, Shayamoya, Velani township (ward 7) and ward 21 (Khalafukwe and knockout sections of Etete) competed in netball and soccer.
Velani township were champions of the netball while ward 21 were soccer champions, beating Velani 1-0 in the final.
Both the teams in the final played attacking football and kept their fans on their feet, and wingers added the kasi flavour with some incredible ball skills.
Thelente Gumede scored the winning goal in the first half.
