Footy’s KP Projects select “Best of the Best”

The KP Projects sport programme came to an exciting end last week at the “Best of the Best” soccer tournament hosted by Footy.

Out of 15 schools, the five schools that won their respective inter-schools tournaments in 2019 travelled to Footy in Ballito to compete for the coveted floating trophy and to be crowned the “Best of the Best” for 2019.

The five primary schools were: Shakaskraal SA, Lloyds, Mavivane, Enkukwini and Melville Primary.

The skill on show was of the highest quality and even without soccer boots, the u/13 boys played their hearts out for their team, leaving everything out on the Footy field.

African Bank again made the day possible by sponsoring the transport, refreshments, medals and trophies for the day.

Unfortunately, there has to always be a winner and a loser and after the round robin format the number two seeded team (Shakaskraal SA) met the number one seeded team (Lloyds Primary) in the final.

All eyes were glued to the Footy field as the whistle went for the exciting final to kick off between the two teams. Each school chose their favourite and vocally supported them throughout the 15 minute final.

Even though Lloyds topped the table after the group stages, Shakaskraal SA played a flawless final game and comfortably won the final 7 -2, much to the surprise of many of their supporters.

With plenty of talent on offer, the KP Projects u/14 elite squad will be playing against Durban High School next week with an opportunity of two soccer bursaries on offer which could drastically change the lives of two players and their families forever. Watch this space.
