WATCH: Salt Rock’s Hank named KZN Sportsman of the Year
The prestigious event saw 80 nominees, shortlisted across 24 categories, vie for the coveted title.
South Africa’s canoe king, and local sports star Hank McGregor, was named KwaZulu-Natal Sportsman of the Year at the 2019 KwaZulu-Natal Sports Awards ceremony held at the Durban ICC on Saturday, October 12.
In its seventh year, the KZN Sport Awards, hosted by the KZN Department of Sport and Recreation, in partnership with the KZN Sports Confederation, attracted more that 800 guests from all over KZN and South Africa.
The prestigious event saw 80 nominees, shortlisted across 24 categories, vie for the coveted title.

The annual awards seek to recognise and reward the exceptional performances and accomplishments of athletes, administrators, coaches, teams and sports media personnel from KZN, on and off the field.
A stringent judging process is facilitated by an independent and esteemed panel of judges comprising sports writers, administrators and representatives of recognised sports bodies.
Winners of the different categories will be submitted for nomination in the national South African Sport Awards to take place next month.
