Simbithi championships sees ladies get into the swing of things
Kamaya Moodliar (15) won the championship for the first time after her sister won the previous 3 events.
A face from a familiar family emerged victorious from the Simbithi Country Club ladies championship on Sunday, April 18.
Kamaya Moodliar (15) won the championship for the first time after her sister won the previous 3 events.
She won with a gross score of 131 shots over the 2 day stroke play event, also winning the nett competition with 121.
“After seeing my sister win so many times I knew it was time for me to do the same and I am so happy to have come away with the victory,” said Moodliar.
Olivia Wood (15) who was born on the same day as Moodliar, proved a worthy second, finishing with a gross score of 142 shots.
“It gives me such pleasure to see these young ladies coming through so well and we hope to see them competing for championships for years to come,” said ladies captain Jean Freeman.
Forty ladies from across the North Coast came ready to play over the 2 days across 3 divisions and spirits were high at the club during the prize giving ceremony.

A Division
1. Kamaya Moodliar (131)
2. Olivia Wood (142)
B Division
1. Belinda Dix (153)
2. Gerda Hartley (156)
C Division (decided on points)
1. Rachel Bassett (68 points)
2. Karen Teichmann (66 points)
The ladies now turn their attention to the match play championships which will be held this weekend.
