Seeff MTB Lap Series gains momentum in first and seconds legs

Seeff North Coast recently held its second annual MTB Lap series, the first and second of a 3-round series at Curro Mount Richmore in Salt Rock, followed by the second leg at Ashton International College Ballito.

The Seeff North Coast Primary Schools MTB Lap Series was well-attended, with some 19 schools and 150 children participating from around the province.

The MTB Lap Series contributes and ensures the ongoing development of cycling at primary school level, and was initiated by the Sugar Rats Club and Elite Eventures.

“We are thrilled to be playing an integral role in growing mountain biking as a sport and to be able to encourage young children to participate in family-orientated activities,” said Seeff North Coast sales director, Graham White.

White said each event in the series provided a different cycling experience, but that cyclists could also include these rides as part of their training for future events on the KZN MTB calendar.

“It was exceptionally heartwarming to see so many children partaking in this series. They all showed so much heart and grit, as well as enthusiasm.”

The U7 girls and boys rode 5 laps, totalling 4.3kms. The U9s did 6 laps (5.1kms). The U11s rode 5 laps (7kms). The U13s did 4 laps (11kms) and the Open Category (U14 through to adults) rode 5 laps, totalling 13.75kms.

The third leg is set for June 27 and will be held at Umhlali Preparatory School.
