The tennis courts at Umhlali Country Club were teeming with young talent over the weekend when a record field of players took part in the annual Dolphin Coast Junior Spar Tennis Tournament.

Event organisers Roger Ferrandi and Mitzi Bateman described this year’s event as a resounding success with a total of 78 boys and girls taking part in singles, doubles and mixed doubles categories in the various age groups – with some doubles teams really dressing up for the occasion.

To ensure Covid-19 protocols were maintained the tournament was staged over three venues – both Umhlali Preparatory and Ashton accommodated some of the age groups.
This year the tournament’s main sponsor was Tiffany’s Superspar.

Sportsmanship awards for court conduct and great fellowship went to Kelly Hullet, Simone Cardarelli, Gracie Green and Calvin Witthoft.
The response was overwhelming and the tournament proved to be a great success.

“They played in great spirit and the event showcased a great line-up of emerging talent,” said Bateman.
