Zakithi back in action for 4x400m heats at 1.37pm today
South Africa are racing in a strong heat with athletics titans Jamaica as well as Poland, Belgium, France, Japan, Colombia and India.
Ballito Olympian, Zakithi Nene, will be back in action this afternoon as South Africa run in heat 2 of the 4x400m at 1.37pm.
Although the exact team has not yet been announced, 4 of the 5-strong team will run in the heat.
The team is made up of Nene, Wayde van Niekerk, Thapelo Phora, Ranti Dikgale and Lythe Pillay.

The top 3 finishers in each heat will earn automatic qualification for tomorrow’s final which will be held at 2.50pm.
The 2 next fastest teams from the heats stage will also make the final which includes 8 teams.
From an African perspective, Botswana have a strong team led by Isaac Makwala who is the 10th fastest 400m runner in history.
They will be running in heat 1 at 1.25pm today.
South Africa have had a slightly disappointing medal tally in Tokyo so far, with 1 gold and 2 silvers, from swimming and surfing.
Zakithi and the team will be hoping to add to that by tomorrow afternoon.
